D2 Confirms Twin Mercedes AMG Effort for 2019 China GT

640-5.jpegTaiwanese powerhouse D2 Racing has confirmed its China GT return for 2019 with two Mercedes AMG entries in GT3 and GT4 class respectively. This marks the third successive year that D2 Racing has contended in the popular Chinese championship.

D2 Racing produced two drivers’ titles in 2018 - the GT3 Am drivers’ champion in Kuo Kuo Hsin, and the GTC overall champion in CJ Huang - and two third places in the teams’ standings  while competing with a single entry in each of the GT3 and GTC class.
640-6.jpegIn 2019, reigning GT3 Am champion Kuo Kuo Hsin will again launch title assault as a solo driver in the Mercedes AMG GT3. The 45-year old gentleman driver has one victory under his belt at China GT, and will look to add more trophies to his cabinet in the new season.
640-2.jpegThe team has made the switch from GTC to GT4 in 2019, with 17 year old Taiwanese rising star Peter Yang Liao at the wheel of the Mercedes AMG GT4. The youngster graduated from karting to single seaters in 2018, competing in the Asia Formula Renault Series. He will be sharing driving duties with PCCA driver Will Bamber, who comes from a family of highly accomplished motorsport professionals.

Team Manager Chiu Hsinlung is already looking ahead at the Sepang season openers, commenting, “the seasonal monsoon in Malaysia will be quite challenging for teams. It typically rains in early afternoons in that part of the world, and teams will have to react quickly to changing conditions.”
