China GT General Manager and Vice President for Motorsport at Goldenport Enterprises, Xie Tian, believes that China GT is ready to take the next step in 2019.

‘2018 was a watershed moment for us. China GT has experienced some lows but 2018 proved that there is huge potential. Last year our championship covered China’s major cities, and the response we got from fans was tremendous. We also had incredible media coverage and a lot of positive feedback from teams. We also made a big statement by hosting the end-of-season gala dinner at the SAIC International Circuit sky bridge - something few other series have done. We are on an upward trajectory.”

In 2019, China GT will host its first-ever offshore race weekend at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. “Having the official test and opening rounds in Malaysia will send a signal that we are taking matters seriously; that we want to be recognised as a global championship. We are expecting over 40 entries for the Sepang round.

“Not only are we going to Asia, Asia is coming to us as well. A number of international teams are looking at joining China GT this year, and competing for the much coveted 9million RMB prize fund. We are working more closely with ASNs in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Macau. In Malaysia, we will partner with Country Heights to present the Asia GT Festival, with the support of local series, the Malaysia Speed Festival. We hope these will improve our standing in Asian motorsport.

It’s time to go to the next level.”

The opening rounds of the 2019 China GT will commence on 15-17 March 2019 at the Sepang International Circuit. Please follow China GT official facebook (@ChinaGTChampionship) and instagram (@chinagtchampionship) to stay updated.
