Round 1 Zhuhai Top 3 Drivers Quotes
GT3
1stPlace: KINGS Racing
Xu Jia: Very glad to continue the winning streak from last year and get first place today. We are excited and confident about the season ahead.
Alessio Picariello: My teammate put on a stellar performance today. This is the car I won in last year so feeling pretty lucky to carry a win with it again.
2ndPlace: JRM
Chris van der Drift: We came from P5 so second place is not a bad result. And it’s good to start from the front row tomorrow.
Li Chao: our car is not well suited for the Zhuhai circuit because of the heat and the long straight. I had a small incident during my stint but pretty happy with the results overall.
3rdPlace: TSRT Tianshi Racing
Michael Choy: We had a good start. However we ran into some small issues with the radio - that cost us some time.
David Chen: I came out of the pit between a Porsche and an Audi, and didn’t really know what position I was in. All I could do is to keep pushing and get close to the guys in front. The radio issue should be pretty easily resolved so won’t affect our performance tomorrow.
GTC Class
1stPlace: D2 Racing
CJ Huang: We owe our win to the team and sponsors. Our mechanics did a great job setting up the car, and the Michelin tyres have a lot of grip.
2ndPlace: Xtreme Motorsports
Dominic Ang: My teammate Song Bo did a great job today and gave the car to me in a good position. Our car had a little bit of issue but we were lucky to get past our teammate on the last lap.
Song Bo: Our car wasn’t very strong in the start, so we lost a few positions. But I tried to keep a consistent pace and get back the positions I lost, and we finished in P2.
3rdPlace: Xtreme Motorsports
Thomas Ashton: Very happy to finish on the podium again after getting the GT4 Class win earlier today. We had an issue during qualifying so had to start from the back. Kai had a very strong performance today so congratulations to him, and to my teammates Dominic and Bo for getting P2.
Liu Kai: We were in second position but our car had an issue on the last lap, and we were passed by our sister car! Luckily I could restart the car again and still finish on the podium.
GT4 Class
1st: Xtreme Motorsports
Thomas Ashton: This is a good start to the season for us! A little bit unexpected but I wouldn’t take anything less.
Lo Sze Ho: We didn’t have enough pace on the straight so didn’t do very well at the start. Unlucky for us a Lotus made contact with our car at turn 4 and we were dropped to the back of the pack. Our pit stop change was executed perfectly, and we stayed consistent. A win is a good reward for our efforts today.
2ndPlace: China Equity AMR
Jack Mitchell: our car had an issue yesterday but we managed to resolve them overnight. When I left the pit we were in P5, and I tried to get close to the cars ahead. However I ran out of time to challenge the KTM.
Ryan Liu:We started from the back because we couldn’t take part in qualifying yesterday. It took the mechanics the entire night to fix the damage we took during Friday practice. We want to thank the team and sponsor Aupu for their support.
3rdPlace & Am/Am Winner: Fist Team AAI
Chen Chun Hua: it was a very messy start with everyone fighting for position into first few corners. I wanted to stay out of the fray and keep up my pace. Both my self and my co-driver had decent times today so the results were pretty good.
Lee Yueh Hsun: Our dashboard was malfunctioning the minute I stepped into the car and I couldn’t see what gear I am in. I had to do some guess work and try and finish the race.
