The action-packed start of this year’s China GT Championship kicked off in May, with JRM giving it their all during the first race weekend in Beijing. As the biggest team in the China GT family, with a total of 6 cars competing in the GTC class, JRM have an eye-catching line up. They dominated the GTC class at the first race weekend, walking away from the first round with second and third, and also taking third in round two.
During the round one qualifiers, Pan Chao and Andrew Tang snatched pole position for JRM JiaRui-TengDa. From the very start of the actual round one race, the pair led by a large margin, at one point having a 10 second lead over the next car. As the race progressed, Pand Chao and Andrew Tang managed to keep hold of the lead. However, things took an unfortunate turn following the opening of the pit lane around the halfway point in the race. A sudden accident led to the safety car being deployed, which forced Pan Chao and Andrew Tang down into second place. They were unable to regain the top spot, and narrowly missed out on first place, instead taking second place in the GTC class. JRM Force China’s Helian Xingzhong also performed well, catapulting himself to third place overall after starting in thirteenth.
At the start of the second round, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (type 991) belonging to Pan Chao and Andrew Tang occupied third. Bian Hao and Will Bamber for JRM Force China followed closely behind, but were soon engaged in a scuffle with two other cars. At the halfway point of the race, after their pit stop, Bian Hao and Will Bamber went on the offensive, repeatedly setting the quickest lap time of the race and gradually moving up the pack to take on the top three. As the race drew to a close, there was also a surge in the number of battles for positions. Pan Chao and Andrew Tang narrowly advanced to take second place, with Bian Hao and Will Bamber soon snapping at their heels. Each driver continued to strive for a better result, and the situation on the tracks changing quickly and often. In the dying moments of the race, the second-place drivers faltered on a turn, also throwing off the rhythm of the car following closely behind. This eventually led to JRM Force China’s team of Bian Hao and Will Bamber finishing in third.
Professional drivers at this level often experience fierce competition and come across all kinds of unexpected problems whilst on the tracks. However, by keeping calm and through team cooperation, JRM was able to dispatch one problem after another, each time coming back stronger than before. The race saw major accomplishments for both drivers and technicians, with the JRM team’s strong technical support and logistics background ensuring that all the cars were fully prepared before the start of each race. WE can’t wait to see how the rest of their 2017 season turns out!
