This year, China GT will herald the arrival of one of the world’s marquee international team’s – Phoenix Racing Asia. In 2017, Phoenix Racing Asia will field two of the latest model Audi R8 LMS GT3s to do battle in China GT following the team’s impressive debut last year in which Marchy Lee and Alex Au achieved a podium finish in both races at the grand finale in Shanghai.
The German Phoenix Racing team was founded in 1999 by Ernst Moser. The team has more than 20 years of international racing experience, and has partnered with Audi for over 10 years. The team has enjoyed outstanding success on the GT world stage, winning the DTM German Touring Car Championship in 2011 and 2013, as well as winning the 24 Hours Nürburgring four times and the Spa 24 Hours twice.
Upon arriving in Asia, Phoenix Racing Asia was put together by Ernst Moser on the back of his success in leading the team to victory in the DTM German Touring Car Championship, the 24 Hours Nürburgring and other top international races, and has partnered together with renowned Hong Kong racing driver Marchy Lee. Phoenix Racing Asia has a unique vision, and is optimistic about the robust growth and unlimited potential for motorsport in Asia. The team is presided over by professional German touring car management and maintains strong connections in Asia where it can leverage the reputation of its brand for promotional purposes. The emergence of new companies and new teams equip Asian mechanics and engineers with the opportunity to gain experience in the area of auto design and calibration.
